alanatmachupichu-1We are pleased to announce the Launch of the Sustainability Drinks event in Mount Gambier. Make sure you are there to join in the fun!

Our very first speaker for the month of June will be Alan Richardson who will be speaking on the topic “Opportunities for Community Energy Generation and Distribution”

Alan is very well known in the Limestone Coast. Over his life he has experienced some interesting positions which commenced in agriculture. His first job was a Jackaroo. He worked his way up holding the position of Overseer and later as a Farm Manager at many locations across Australia. Alan was lured into the communications industry where he began as a trainee Rural Reporter in Orange NSW. Later Alan held roles as a Rural Reporter and Radio Producer. He is most known for his role as the Regional Program Manager for the ABC SE based in Mt Gambier from 1999 to 2012. Alan is now enjoying retirement and it has allowed him to spend more time with his family.

Across Australia, communities are coming together to pursue genuine sustainability opportunities, and few are as compelling as community energy projects.  Communities are leading the way in creating sustainable energy enterprises that increase local energy security, create regional community development opportunities, and directly act to reduce carbon emissions;  to decarbonise, decentralise and democratise our energy system!

Alan is attending The Community Energy Congress in Canberra in the next few weeks. The Congress will bring together for the first time, all the key players in the emerging Australian community energy sector. We are very fortunate that Alan has agreed to share his experience with us all.

An open invitation is extended to all who are “passionate about sustainability” to come and mingle with all like minded people and listen to our speaker share their sustainability story.
