Leyla AcarogluWe are pleased to announce our next event is on Wednesday 6th November. Speaker: Leyla Acaroglu, Founder and Director of Eco Innovators.

Leyla is the founder and director of Eco Innovators, a multidisciplinary creative practice focused on pioneering social and environmental sustainability through design. Her work is driven by a strong desire to affect, create, and see positive pro-sustainability change. She also lectures at RMIT University where she is undertaking her PhD in designing change.

Leyla is a well-respected international speaker having been invited to present on the mainstage at TED2013 in Longbeach, she has also given 2 other TED talks (TEDx Sydney and TEDx Melbourne).

Leyla has been named one of Melbourne’s Top 100 People of Influence (2010), was a judge on the ABC TV show The New Inventors (2011), presents on radio, op-ed writer for the New York Times (2013), and has won several awards including two Melbourne Design Awards and a CORE77 design award for her work.

Leyla is a leading sustainability strategist and expert on life cycle and systems thinking in design, production and consumption. Leyla is a designer, social scientist, educator and passionate proponent of sustainability in and through design. Her work challenges people to see the secret life of everyday things and the underlying systems that make up the world.

Leyla is a creative force who finds innovative and inspiring ways of catalyzing change. Her work spans a range of fields and projects including the development of one of the first online life cycle assessment tools for designers – ‘Greenfly’, creative director of the award winning sustainability education project ‘The Secret Life of Things’, created the ‘Design Play Cards‘ and in 2012 was an Artist in Residence with Autodesk.

An open invitation is extended to all who are “passionate about sustainability” to come and mingle with like minded people and listen to a speaker share their sustainability story.

Scheduled from 6 pm – 8 pm, most of the evening is networking. There is a short presentation and guest speaker at ~7 pm.
