peter kearneyWe are pleased to announce our November speaker: Peter Kearney, Founder, City Growers

Peter Kearney is an entrepreneur, educator and author. He is founder of City Growers which provides education and consulting services to individuals, schools and business on urban agriculture. The business combines his passion for gardening and sustainable food production, with his background as a financial executive and experience in designing information systems. City Growers is at the forefront of innovation with localising food gardening knowledge in times of climate change.

Peter seeks to engage in local food production with people living in and around urban environments, and enable commercially viable food urban production through cultural and economic changes. Peter became involved with organic gardening at a young age and is involved in several educational initiatives relating to sustainable food including GoodStart Early Childhood and Eat Cook and Grow. He believes that the transformation of food systems into locally-based, sustainable food growing empowers and connects communities.

For this event we also have a second speaker: Scott Elsom, General Manager, All Sorted Business Services

The Forgotten Aspects of Sustainability – Finance and Risk!

As the General Manager of the SALA Group of companies, Scott Elsom oversaw the development of a collection of award winning sustainable businesses focused on residential property development, kit home manufacture, hardware retailing and retirement village management. The businesses were hit hard by the GFC in 2008 and the group was wound up in 2009. As a timely reminder of the risks faced by business owners and managers, employees and others in the sustainability space, Scott will share his experience from this period and the ensuing years.

Make sure you are there to join in the fun.

An open invitation is extended to all who are “passionate about sustainability” to come and mingle with like minded people and listen to a speaker share their sustainability story.

Scheduled from 5.30 pm – 8.30 pm, most of the evening is networking. There is a short presentation and guest speaker at ~6.30 pm.

When you register to attend, please share with your social networks and encourage other interested friends and colleagues to register and join us for a great evening.  Our volunteers can have professional name tags ready for collection at the door. For courtesy, please contact us if you register and then cannot attend.
